Senior Info

Class of 2023--Please see below for senior resources from the counseling office and grad ceremony coordinator!

Check here periodically for updates.  Also, pay attention to your Class of 2023 Google Classroom as that is our more nimble platform for sending out more timely announcements (e.g., scholarship opportunities!).

Aside from school-year specific documents, much of what you see below can be found across our College & Career Planning pages. It is simply arranged here in what's hopefully a helpful overview for the senior perspective.

Senior Info Night Presentation from 10/27/22

Graduation Checklist

This graduation checklist serves as a general reminder of the specific credit requirements from the state, adapted to reflect the NMHS curriculum that meets those requirements.

HOPE Requirements & Rigor at NMHS

This handout reviews the eligibility guidelines for certain merit scholarships available from the state of Georgia.  For more info about both state and federal financial aid, as well as resources about seeking scholarships from more independent sources, please visit our College Financial Aid page.

ACT/SAT Info & FAQs

The ACT and SAT are nationally standardized college entrance exams, commonly accepted for admissions consideration at colleges/universities nationwide.  For the college admissions process, applicants are typically required to submit ACT or SAT test scores for admissions consideration.  Because of this, college entrance exam testing is an important task for juniors/seniors to consider in the college planning process.

Teacher/Counselor Recommendation Request Form

Does you college or scholarship application process require a recommendation letter from a teacher or school counselor?  If yes, please complete this form (or include the same info in an email or written submission) and give it to your recommender.  Your counselors/teachers don't know everything you may be involved in throughout high school.  Your completing and submitting this form can help them brag about you more knowledgeably!

Please consider this College Readiness Timeline to be a general guide or template for your own timeline.  Your timeline may vary depending on the admissions deadlines for your colleges of interest.

Also, click here for financial aid handouts from the Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC).  Particularly helpful are the HOPE Program Brochure and the Paying for College Brochure; each is available in English and Spanish.  (The GSFC is the agency that administers the HOPE Scholarship and other state college financial aid programs, and their student/parent info page is www.GAFutures.org.)

The slideshow linked at the top is an overview, and not necessarily exhaustive.  For more specifics and fine print, we generally include suggestions of what resource to find more info at.  In short, those are:
