Georgia Apply to College (GAC) aims to give all Georgia high school seniors the chance to apply to colleges, with a particular emphasis on helping underrepresented and first-generation students with the college admission process.
In November 2008, the inaugural Georgia Apply to College events took place at eight high schools in Georgia. By 2014, more than 200 high schools in the state were participating. In support of GAC, the Governor has declared November Georgia Apply to College Month every year. GAC is sponsored by the Georgia Student Finance Commission and is supported by Communities in Schools of Georgia, Georgia Department of Education, the Georgia Independent College Association, the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education, the Technical College System of Georgia and the University System of Georgia. ON NOVEMBER 18, SCHOOL COUNSELORS ADN REPRESENTATIVES FROM NEARBY COLLEGES ADN THE MILITARY WILL ATTEND SENIOR SCIENCE CLASSES TO HELP SENIORS WITH APPLICATIONS FOR THEIR POST-SECONDARY OPTIONS. Rising 10th-12th graders can now submit their requets for the 2024-2025 school year! How do they do that? Find out at the Rising 10th-12th Info page. The deadline to submit elective requests and express interest in "add-ons" is Friday, March 15, 2024.

The NMHS Counselors hosted the annual Dual Enrollment Parent Info Night on January 25, 2024.
Couldn't make it? Check out the presentation and related materials on our Dual Enrollment page! Earlier this month, North Murray High School hosted Bagley 8th graders for the 8th Grade Expo! To lay groundwork for this, NMHS Counselors visited Bagley to explain High School 101 (graduation requirements, how electives are part of that balanced graduation plan, GPA, Honors/Dual Enrollment opportunities, and tips for making the most of high school). And then for the 8th Grade Expo itself, 8th graders visited NMHS to see the elective classes in action. Once back at Bagley, a team from NMHS worked with 8th grade homerooms to help 8th graders select their elective courses for next school year.
In case you missed it, we highly encourage you to check out our Rising 9th Grade Info page. It has graduation requirements info, elective selection directions to follow along from home, the official Honors Application, a video walkthrough of our elective pathways, and much more! The NMHS school counselors conducted Title I Senior Info Night for the Class of 2024 and their parents on October 30, 2023. Whether you missed it, or you made it and need a refresher, the Senior Info page has video loaded of the slideshow and the presentation audio. You can also view/download the slideshow, review the presentation handouts, and see other important resources for seniors and their parents. Check it out!
Check out Scholarships.com! The counselors have checked over this scholarship search tool and added it to the group listed on the last section of our Financial Aid page. Scholarships.com boasts 3 million scholarship listings, and while that might sound overwhelming, when you set up an account it will sift through those listings for you based on your profile information. Start your account so you can start sifting, sorting, saving, and applying to scholarships today!
