Intro to High School
Brought to you by the North Murray High School Counselors, the purpose of this presentation is to give rising 9th graders/the Class of 2028 an intro to high school. Learn about graduation requirements, ways to raise the bar for yourself (Honors & Dual Enrollment), a taste of how a good high school performance pays off (e.g., HOPE Scholarship), and tips for high school success. NMHS Counselors presented this information to Bagley 8th graders a few days ahead of 8th Grade Expo.
Reference Sheets for NMHS' Course Options
Course selection for upcoming 9th graders is closed. However, the below information is good for ongoing awareness/reference ahead of multiple decision points a student may encounter for their course plan.
This NMHS Graduation Checklist is a summary of the state's graduation requirements and the options to fulfill them at NMHS. Info integrated with this includes identification of NMHS courses that fulfill HOPE/Zell Miller Scholarships' Rigor requirements, and which courses have a state standardized End-of-Course (EOC) assessment. Core classes are automatically issued for students' schedules. Each year during course selection time, counselors seek input from students about their electives, accept new Honors applications, announce procedures for other options, etc.
Here is the list of Pathway Options at NMHS anticipated for 2024-2025. All Murray County Schools high school graduates need to complete a Pathway. A Pathway is a set of three related courses in sequence. There are three main Pathway areas: Career/CTAE Pathways, Fine Arts Pathways, and Advanced Academic Pathways. We also offer a Journalism Pathway.
The Freshman Course Registration Form shows only the intro classes for each Pathway, as well as some PE elective options that are not part of a Pathway. For a bigger-picture view of how each Pathway progresses, review this Pathways Table that lists the 3-course sequences for each Pathway.
